Turnkey project for the supply, transportation and installation of 3 submarine export cables between the offshore HVAC substations of the Borkum Riffgrund II and Trianel Borkum Offshore Wind Farms and the DolWin Gamma offshore HVDC substation to transfer the power produced offshore to the German transmission grid.

Background

Power produced from German Borkum Riffgrund and Trianel Borkum wind farms needed to be integrated into the German grid. Tennet awarded Hellenic Cables the turnkey project for the supply, transportation and installation of 3 submarine export cables connecting the offshore wind farms with the DolWin Gamma offshore HVDC substation. 

Technical Information & Execution

Hellenic Cables manufactured 3 submarine export cables 155 kV with XLPE insulation and 2xtwo 24 optical fibre units integrated into the cable design which were installed at 50m max. water depth and buried 1.5 m under the seabed along the whole route.

The project was successfully completed in 2018.
