Background

In 2018, Hellenic Cables was awarded by IPTO the contract for the supply and installation of high voltage submarine cables for Phase B of the Cyclades interconnection, which consists of the interconnections of Paros-Naxos and Naxos-Mykonos to the National Transmission System.

Technical Information & Execution

Hellenic Cables designed and manufactured 52km of 150kV submarine cables, with XLPE insulation and an integrated 24 fiber optics cable. The cables were manufactured at Hellenic Cables’ state-of-the-art plant in Corinth, Greece, a world-class manufacturing facility for high and extra-high voltage submarine cables for offshore applications. Hellenic Cables’ contract also included the installation, protection, termination works and testing. 

With the successful and on-schedule completion of Phase B of the Cyclades interconnection, Hellenic Cables continues to support IPTO’s long-term plan for the modernization of the National Transmission System with a view to safeguard energy security for the country and especially the island communities.
