Hellenic Cables, the cables segment of Cenergy Holdings, celebrates the successful launch of South Fork Wind, the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the United States, developed by Ørsted and Eversource.

Hellenic Cables’ scope included the design, manufacturing, testing, and supply of 30 km 66kV XLPE-insulated subsea inter-array cables, associated accessories, as well as testing and termination works, contributing to the successful energization of the project.

Situated 35 miles east of Montauk Point, New York, South Fork Wind now delivers clean energy to the local grid, powering 70,000 Long Island homes. This achievement of the commercial-scale offshore wind farm underscores America’s commitment and progress toward a carbon-neutral future.

The launch of South Fork Wind marks Hellenic Cables’ first successful offshore wind project energization in the United States and such an accomplishment reflects Hellenic Cables’ dedication to this pioneering project and its commitment to the growing US offshore wind sector.

Kostas Savvakis, General Manager of Hellenic Cables, commented, “The successful delivery of the South Fork Wind project stands as a testament to the capabilities and dedication of the entire team of Hellenic Cables. Our role in this landmark project showcases our commitment to excellence, and we are proud to have contributed to powering 70,000 homes on Long Island with clean energy. We look forward to further advancing our presence in the US offshore wind sector.”
