Athens, June 8, 2023

In the context of Corporate Social Responsibility actions and intending to establish a culture of volunteerism and environmental awareness, the people of Hellenic Cables, which is the cables division of Cenergy Holdings, in collaboration with All For Blue, an environmental non-profit organization, took part in voluntary beach and underwater cleanup. The action took place on Thursday, May 04, at Kalamaki Beach in Isthmia, 4.5 km from the Hellenic Cables plant in Corinth.

Through this action, the Company’s goal is to actively contribute to strengthening environmental consciousness and raising employees’ awareness to take action towards environmental protection.
The voluntary program consisted of a creative training seminar for Hellenic Cables volunteers where they learned how do to contribute to the rescue of the marine ecosystem, as well as beach and underwater and cleanup.

The training seminar was followed by the cleaning action, where Hellenic Cables volunteers cleaned the beach zone while two certified divers of All For Blue carried out the underwater cleanup. The total waste collected amounted to 73 kg. From the underwater cleanup, a steering wheel of a speedboat stood out. At the same time, among other things, divers recovered a large tarp, on which sea urchins, which they released into their natural habitat, were glued.

Mr. Panagiotis Marlagkoutsos, HR Director of Hellenic Cables, commented: “We are very pleased that more than 70 employees of the Corinth plant responded to our call and devoted time to attend the exciting awareness program of All For Blue, but also to actively contribute to the cleanup of the beach, which they often visit with their families. We also warmly thank the Port and Municipal Authorities for their presence and support throughout the action.”

Mr. Christos Vogiatzis, Plant Director of the submarine cable plant in Corinth, stressed:
“Having an obligation to act in return to the local community through the voluntary cleaning of Kalamaki beach, we take care of the protection of the environment while at the same time, we establish in our organization the culture of volunteerism. We thank All for Blue, our volunteers, and the Port and Municipal Authorities for their valuable help.”
